Tia Derflinger was born and raised in Iowa and started her healthcare experience as a phlebotomist while she attended high school and college. Ms. Derflinger received her bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology in 2012 from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. After graduation, she moved to North Carolina, where she pursued her Master of Physician Assistant Studies degree from Wingate University.
Tia had a strong interest in neurosurgery throughout her time in school, which prompted her career decision to work in pediatric neurosurgery as a physician assistant. She strives to provide patients and families with a good experience while transitioning from clinical to surgical care. She is very passionate about assisting in the operating room, as well as providing optimal care throughout a patient’s hospital stay.
